Interest

Limited distribution. It presents asexuality by fission combined with sexuality making it interesting as model to study the evolution and genetic consequences of asexuality. Its sister species are well known.

Distribution and origin of the sample

Iberian Peninsula with some scattered localities in north of Africa and south of France. The sample comes from a locality in the Algarve (Portugal).
